EDITOR-IN-CHIEF; The Collegian; Manhattan, KS (July 2022 – May 2024)
Oversee all stories, multimedia, and content for the print edition and website of a weekly, national award-winning student news organization that reaches online consumers across the world and print consumers in Manhattan, KS.
• Hire and work with 11 other editorial board members to publish the paper each week, and work with advertising department for ad placement in print edition and online.
• Create weekly rundown for print edition, approve and edit stories with copy chief, desk editors and writers; and, work with managing editor for staff updates and resolving problems; and, consult with adviser for expert advice on improving the paper. Online content has received more than 288,000 views since July 1, 2022.
• Attend weekly staff meetings to plan story ideas and multimedia.
• Work production nights to supervise all desk editors, page design chief, graphic design chief and copy chief with editing, proofreading and approving stories for each 16-page hard-copy edition. Also assist the website manager with posting stories online.
Write stories and create multimedia content for the paper and the website, and upload content to the website alongside the website manager.

Writer for an online publication specializing in politics and news coverage in Washington, D.C. and news across the country that reaches a nationwide audience. Part of an internship through The Fund for American Studies’ journalism track.
Find news stories, research topics, reach out to sources, take pictures and attend events to write compelling and insightful stories.
• Report to editor daily about how stories are coming along and to managers about scheduling conflicts between writer duties and TFAS obligations such as classes and special speakers.
• Apply journalistic standards and best practices to remain unbiased and include all angles to stories.
• Work at the National Press Club, a media hub in the heart of Washington.
